Established in 1983 in Houston, Texas School of Business was founded as a secretarial school. A year later, the school added a medical assistant program. It has continued to grow and now has four campuses in Houston, each offering a variety of diploma and associate degree programs in allied health, criminal justice and information technology. In 2004, the school was acquired by Kaplan Higher Education Corporation. The medical assistant program is offered at all campuses through the Allied Health Division.

Texas School of Business is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award diplomas. The medical assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
